Anything else I need. Cylinders have carbon on the top and on the head. Should I scrape off?

Thanks.

Most head gaskets do not require sealer.... some even say on the gasket not to use sealants. Does yours?

As far as scraping off carbon buildup... not sure. I use seafoam in my premix to help prevent carbon buildup.

Make sure you tighten the head bolts in the proper sequence with the proper torque. Also, re-torque the head-bolts after several hours of run time. Exactly how many I am not sure.

Personally. I don't use sealer on head gaskets anymore, make sure the head is flat. Clean the carbon off of the pistons.

If the gasket doesn't say "use no sealer", Use OMC gasket sealing compond or Permatex #3.

I have the service manual and it shows the sequence. Specs indicate 60-80 inch pounds of torque, not foot pounds. If my math is correct, that's only 5 to 6.5 lbs of torque. Sounds lite to me.

That is correct, start with 1/2 the reccomended value, then 3/4, followed by the full 60-80 inch lbs.

As stated, be sure to dress the head before installing to ensure it is square.

Use a plastic scraper and some OMC Engine Tuner or Seafoam on the piston tops.

Thanks,....last question...manual does not indicate torque for the thermostat housing gasket. I will assume the same as head gasket at 60-80 in lbs. Unless advises otherwise.
