Bought a boat a little less than a month ago, a 1992 Spectrum 1706 with a 90 horse Force. I took the boat out for its maiden voyage yesterday with the family and could not get the motor to start
I have heard the motor run 2 times before, once when I bought the boat and once when I changed the plugs. I am sure they had the motor warmed up nicely when I got there the day I bought it and the motor started right up. The second time I started it up with not a lot of hassel after changing the plugs. There has to be a "trick" to starting all motors and maybe I just need to figure out the "trick"?
The boat has a built in gas tank and I am not sure how big it is but I put in 6gallons of ethenol free high test gas and mixed it with the 50:1 mixture. I can not get the primer bulb firm?!?! Should I pull the vent tube and see if there is a blockage in the tube from the side of the boat to the tank? I loosened the fill cap and got a little pressure in the bulb but still could not get the motor to start!
I am not a motor guy or mechanic, but I dont mind working on stuff if I know how. I just dont know much of anything about boat motors. My last motor (a 89 25hp Merc tiller) ran fine for years so I didnt have to learn much about it.
Any help would be appreciated!!!
