Re: New home for my Turtles

I had a 55 gal aquarium set up with 3 in it for about 3 years. Vowed to never do it again. They are just as entertaining in fish, but my problem was the constant need for tank cleaning. You got to be careful because of the salmonella poison that builds up due to dirty water/tank. Good luck and I hope you enjoy them. My family did while we had them. Lots of work compared to fish IMO.

Re: New home for my Turtles

I have them for 15 years now, got a zoo quality pump with filter but that one needs replacement.
no complains about cleaning just pump empty and refill when the filter is getting dirty.
and replace 10 liter 4 galons of water every week.

the problem is that most peopel buy a 100 liter filter for a 100 liter aqarium.
but with turtles you need a 250liter filter for a 100 liter aqarium.
and the filter intake needs to be one inch at least so not a fish filter but a home build or profi stuff that will cost the big bucks but better than cleaning every week

That looks like the Turtle Hilton, Turin. :)

I had an Alligator Snapper juvenile for a couple of years. Called it "Atilla". Really bad attitude that critter had. Fed it insects and bits of meat (carefully).

Grew too much and got downright dangerous so I put it back in the lake.

Re: New home for my Turtles

mine are 2 red eared turtles Trachemys scripta elegans 1 yellow eared turtle Trachemys scripta troosti and a red belly Turtle Chrysemys picta belli's

They are not as agressive as snappers, (a snapper has more biting force than a adult crocodile)

You can eaven pet them if they want and the yellow one always wants, the red ear's never unless the see food in your other hand
And the red belly wel it has a caracter

the turtles will love it...does it come with a butler?

yep thats me
