I just picked up a new 2hp Honda motor and have a couple of questions about the breaking procedure. My dealer told me to not run the engine at any constant spead for more than 5 minutes or so but to use the full range of throttle. My concern is that when reading through the owners manual, I read the following: "Proper break-in procedure allows the
moving parts to wear in smoothly for
best performance and long service
life.
For the first 10 hours, run the
outboard motor at low speed, and
avoid full-throttle operation."
So it sounds like I should avoid full throttle but says nothing about not maintaining constant RPM's for any length of time. What should I do? My instincts tell me to follow the manual. Should I also avoid constant RPM's while also avoiding WOT? We will be hitting the lake tomorrow and I would love to troll with the motor but I want to break it in correctly.
