Hi All: Been using my new Honda BF150 OB without any problems since April. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

The engine is on a new Eastern 24' & considering it's a displacement hull I have plenty of power. My only issue is that the dealer installed a 17" prop & I can only get up to 5000-5100 WOT. My local Honda dealer said I need a 15.5" prop.

Other then that, she starts right up on the 1st turn. Can't hear a peep & sucks fuel thru an eye dropper.

I haven't noticed many posts in regards to the BF150 & would love to hear from other people about theirs.

Regards,

Alex

I just repowered my 25 Robalo with twin Honda 150. I had twin 225 carb mercs. So far so good, except one engine at 5000 rpm burns 9 gal/hr verses the other at 7 gal/hr. I also have 17" props and get 6000-6400 rpm max. Hole shot is as good as the twin 225's if not better. Lost about 12 mph on top end, which I never ran anyway. cruise 30 knots now at 4800 rpm vrs 35 knots cruise with the old 225's. Fuel consumption is half based on mpg.

Eastern 24 is not a displacement hull otherwise you would need much less power - max speed on displacement hull = 1.34 * sqrt(LWL) which is about 8 knots for 24 feet. If you are doing more than 8 knots it's a planing hull....

I think your confusion is that the Eastern has a moderate deadrise and hence is not a deep-V....
