just replaced the CD unit in my 1973 chysler 70 hp. the motor now runs great. we went tubing today and it seems to have used less gas than normal. we also installed a new set of points. is it normal to see better fuel economy from a new ignition and points?

If the old ones were bad or misadjusted it is normal, jvb.

Definately. Better ignition equals better power, which equals not having to advance the throttle as much for the same effect, which equals better economy.

it really seemed to make a difference, used about a 1/3 less gas when pulling a tube. it seems to run faster now, i may need to turn down the idle a bit...
