Kev, I've been meaning to ask you about this ever since I saw it and it actually doesn't seem too off-topic in this thread: A couple weeks ago I noticed that they replaced the fluorescent tube in our snack machine here at work with a tube filled with white LEDs. It looks totally badass and is bright as heck. Does something like that exists as a drop in replacement for sasto's application?

They do have bi-pin LED lamps as direct replacements for linear fluorescent lamps. Gawd-awful expensive and only good for small lamps, less than 15 inches. The D.O.E published a scalding report on them (large 4 foot lamps) last year for large applications and said basically "DONT".
For a lot of the vending machines they are using the LED tape stuff as well

Lots of refridgeration cases in your grocery stores have these now (or a similar product) and a cold climate controlled enviroment is ideal for them. Heat is the anthrax to LEDs.

The link posted earlier by Fireman is basically drop in, gut the existing sockets and ballasts components and adhere them to the reflector.
(I would get a can of white appliance paint Sasto and shoot that panel to help reflect light bro)
The thing is Sasto would need at least 4 per fixture, with 6 much better. They can be daisy chained (like hooking up twin batteries) and tied into the existing DC wiring.
Thats 120.00 per fixture...

Gone yesterday...back at it today. Been searching and learning all over about lighting. I'm more confused now about lumens and candlepower. I'm getting to the point where I think going to a couple simple bayonets installed.

I'm thinking 2 1100 series bulbs per fixture. What do you think?

This aint no pole barn, Swabbie, I did let the animals out last night...but the gremlins are still here. Something tells me your Hillbilly Lady is doing all the work for you!

Hillbillys sure do come in handy. Grannyd could certainly wire that pole barn, theirs nothing she can't do.
But so far her main job has been to glance out the window once in a while to see if anything has blown up or is on fire.

Wish you luck with the lights Captain. No matter how aggravated you get, just remember it's 12v dc so you can't
kill yourself. :D

I know this is frustrating, but I am not sure suicide is the answer . . .

Between the aggravation on my lighting selection. a water leak I can barely get to, the generator water pump assembly replacement, a defective water pressure switch, ordering curtains that match the interior, the bottom needs cleaned with zincs replaced...... bayonets just may be the answer!

I finally found the water leak that was causing the bilge pump to cycle in the Guest Stateroom....10' away!

After 2 hours of cutting off the old crimp "T", trying to pull the tube away from the bulkhead, then fitting a compression "T".....I finally got it!

Behind the bulkhead is the Master Head. That water line is at least 6' from any access I have.....short of removing the bathtub!
