So this would be an offshoot of my timing question...

I wanted to replace my original knock sensor to see if it affected my timing issues/concerns. Googling the original part number gave me an ACDelco 213-96. Looking for instant gratification, I went to the nearest auto parts store and gave them the info. I was given a BWD brand S8012P (for a manual transmission). Put it in the boat and took it for a spin this morning. Boat would get above 3K rpms without the engine falling on its face. Unhooked the knock sensor and accelerated over 3K with no issues. Hooked the sensor back up and it crapped out again. Tested both sensors with an ohm meter. The old one reads 3,860 and the new one reads zero. Initial internet searching is telling me that 3,900 is normal. Of course, I found one YouTube video telling me that it's broken if it doesn't read zero???

Thank you!

Knock sensors are crystals cut to a specific frequency. Each motor has a specific frequency so there are different sensors.

Your correct part is Merc 806612T and have been unable to cross it to your number. In your other thread you were discussing timing, have you set timing to 10 BTDC in base timing mode?

Yes, I've dialed it back to 10 BTDC in base timing mode. The boat is 20+ years old, so I would imagine that the knock sensor could have been replaced at some point. The number on it is 10456126. Would this be the correct one?

As opposed to this one, which comes up, but looks to be something other than Mercruiser:

Using the part number you listed (10456126) it does come up with the 213-96 number. The issue is it does not fit a 5.7 motor from what I can find, not saying it doesn't, just unable to find
