New leak just suddenly appeared when knocking out shift - is it lower unit oil or???

I was just hammering the old shift lever pin out (after heating for a bit) and all of a sudden there is an oil substance dripping out a small hole on the upper section of the lower unit.
Can someone tell me about what this may be?
I am assuming that whatever it is was caused by the 8 or so whacks I did with the sledge to get the shift lever pin out.
Maybe I free'ed up a weep hole?? But what would weep here?

Man was the shift lever pin stuck...almost welded in there.

Good photo to show why you should definitely lube all zirk fittings you find.

Looks like unburned fuel/oil that finally leaked down.

Inside the exhaust cover or mid section (not sure which is the right name) there is a bunch of black buildup...looks like carbon to me.
Maybe when I torched the housing to loosen the pin it melted the sludge causing it to run down and drip out?

Would this be possible...just not sure what the hole would be there for?
Was really scared that I damaged it somehow.

When the motor runs is water supposed to fill this area or is the water supposed to be running through the pipe only?
There is a rubber grommet that the pipe connects to but it has holes in it.

Just thinking out loud, but did you use any penetrating fluid on anything that could have made its way through?

I did use some but not much...however I think my neighbor that was helping me sprayed Wd40 to loosen up the old gasket material..maybe he sprayed a bunch?...I was just unsure if this weep hole was supposed or be there or not even.

I am trying to find a diagram of how the exhaust section / water tube goes back together now.
I am still worried about the grommet that I "think" the tube sits in...it has holes in it that look machine made but if this is a water tube like I think then the entire mid section (leg??) would be filling up with water and I would think the water tube should only be supplying water to the engine for cooling.

Am I thinking correct? do I need a grommet that has no holes or is water supposed to be going into this mid section?
Speaking of that is the tube in this thing a water tube or exhaust tube?
The prop looks like the exhaust comes out of it so that would mean it would need a tube as well....now I am confused even more...lol (not hard to do these days)

Ok so it is a water tube...I found the part but there is no picture and it's obsolete so I cannot tell if this is supposed to have the holes in it or not. Anyone know?

I would hate to put this back together like this if I should have epoxied the holes first...but would hate to epoxy the holes if they are supposed to be there...lol

url to part number for my reference:

Finally found the photo of what it is supposed to look like and wow I guess mine is a little mangled...lol
I thought the tube hooked to the bottom of this thing but I guess it slides all the way through so the holes should not be an issue....if I can get it to work that is. Mine is very melted and warped inside and not even sure how the tube would make it though the melted mayhem.

What it should look like.
