hi, so i picked up my new/used boat today. the guy had thought it was a starcraft, but the registration says otherwise. i cannot make out any info on the id tag (except rated up to 50 hp and 850 lbs).

where can i search the HID #?

the registration shows it is in fact a 1973, molded fiber glass co was the manufacterer. the hull id is mgf01961m73j. any help would be appriciated.

ETA: okay, found a brochure. it is a 1973 gypsy 14.

$500.. not bad, eh?

and because she looks so darn cute...

Nice boat andy!
Dose look alot like a gypsy - but verify your hin . Moulded Fiber Glass boats / Union PA "MFG" made them - but the style is a popular one.
the Fiberglassics web site has the remnants of the old MFG website wich has many brochures to help ID an MFG . We also have a small forum at the bottom of Iboats . Keep her floating and enjoy the fun ! BTW what you got pushing her?

welcome Andy, looks like a good buy. start that baby wearing a PFD, now. get her use to it. nothing worse and a small one fussing, about the PFD.

since it is going to be too cold there to boat, enroll in a safe boating course. you have a precious cargo, don't jeopardize her. get to know your boat and what it will and will not do.

always start your motor on muffs, at home before leaving for the ramp, and have everything loaded. don't be a ramp idiot.

i found a website that had a lot of old brochures on it, and pretty much determined that is a gypsy 14...

its got a 50 hp rude that needs some lower end work... being sent down to massachusetts to my buddy to work on it over the winter.

any suggestions for pre-water checklists? stuff to check/do before leaving house and stuff to check/do before putting the boat in the water?

Re: new member - new boat - come on in and say hi!

Those old MFG's were very solid boats. MFG is still very much in business but they make semi-truck cabs now. I think they got out of boats in the 70s or 80s.
