Never seen torque to yield bolts in a Chevy,.... Never,.....

Service manual 31, which is the newest SM for small blocks lists 2 methods on head bolts. In the book the preferred method is a 3 pass TTY. The optional method is a 3 pass torque to number. It's on page 3A-19
