I have a new Suzuki DF15A. Engine is installed and ready to start. It was interesting, maybe confusing, to me, reading the Suzuki break in procedure. 5 minute warmup, then, 15 minutes run time, in gear, at idle, then another hour forty five at now more then 3000 rpm, less then half throttle. They allow enough throttle to get the boat on plane, but then no more then half throttle. After that, 1 hour at 3/4 throttle, 4000 rpm, but no full throttle. The last hours any speed, but limit full throttle to less then 5 minutes at a time
From past experience, it was the norm to avoid a continuous run at a consistent speed, rather, vary RPM, helping to seat the rings and valves. Mercury recommends the latter process.
I'm leery of this break in procedure, but don't want to void my warranty. Suggestions?
