Ok I have a 1989 Yamaha 175 hp # 175ETX6

Last year I kept having a problem with the oil over flowing, and you guys were great on what to look for. I did not have the Arrows lined up.

Well now I have that all set and the system seems to be working great! But, Yea theres always a but!!

I have bleed the hole system and the last 2 trips I went on the oil tank cover keeps poping off?? I have filled the tank with the cover off and then put the cover back and it still pushes the float cover off the tank on the motor??

If anyone is going to no its going to be you guy's!!

Thanks again!!

check the vent.
the small black hose that runs from the tank to the airbox. if its plugged it will push the sensor assy out .
you may need to replace the seal,or at least make sure its in place, on the filter screen assy.
good luck and keep posting

Thanks for the response!!

I just went out and the floats are seated into the filter, I removed the over flow- vent hose and blew in it and I could hear air going to the airbox.

What seal are you talking about?? Could I have not fixed the over flow problem by alinging the arrows?? Maybe there is something else?

Thanks again!

Re: New oil injection problem??

hello
what is happening is when the oil transfer occurs the engine tank cant vent or the float does not shut off the oil transfer. the resulting pressure in the engine tank can push the float assy out of the tank. if you remove the float assy and the filter screen and drain the oil tank you will find a rubber seal between the filter screen and the tank. the seal should be replaced or at least retrived everytine the filter assy is removed. the filter assy has a hole at the top that must line up over the flat on the float assy. if it does not the transfer may not shut off proerly.
good luck and keep posting
