New Oil Pump - Old Pickup Tube...

Okay, how do I get the old pickup tube on the new oil pump? (GM L6 250 - '73 OMC 165)...

I've gotten to a point where I have to figure this out. The pickup tube is/was "pressed" into the old oil pump, (and the manual mentions this), but it does not say how to get the new pump fitted with the old tube! The new motor I've got came with the new oil pump.

Is it similar to putting the dipstick tube in the block? Just gently tap it together? How do I know I'm getting it at the right angle?

I'm "stuck" on this one!

Thanks for the help!

Ayuh,.... Pretty much the Same......

The Angle,.. Should come out "Right" when it "Bottoms Out"..........

An old Racers trick is to put a Tiny Tack Weld onto it, Right where the Tube,+ Pump body Meet.........

If you're Concerned about whether it IS exactly Where you want it,.....
Modeling Clay can be used to Test Fit it to Your Oil Pan.............

Good deal. Thanks. With all of this $$ and effort, I'm doing my best to make it "perfect".

I didn't want to go "tapping" around without checking first.
