I remember when I was a kid.... guy passes granddad with Tower Power screaming by.
So I've always wanted one and recently found nice Glastron with near new condition 86 Tower.

I wanted a dual purpose fish & ski small boat for club lake and most importantly a tower with integral tilt & trim.
After years of looking for garage kept boat.... I finally found Red one.

It hasn't been run in 15+ years.
Compression even on all 6 :)
Soaked rings with fogging oil overnight, spun with plugs out, 3 gal 92 octane non-ethanol with heavy mix 40:1 oil & briefly busted her off.
Of course carbs leaking and I know float is stuck.

This weekend I flushed out fuel tank 3 times and have a fan blowing into funnel in gas fill, exiting out sending unit to get it completely dry.

There is oil around lower unit, but I can't tell if it's from engine carbs leaking or lower unit seal.
Haven't put engine in lake to see if water gets in gearcase yet.

Need factory service manual and the best old timer place to order parts for carb.

I'm mechanically inclined working on my old Jeep collection, but new to outboards.

Oh, my wife named my hobby "Red Mistress" as all my toys are RED and I spend more time with them than her :)

Install a new waterpump impeller before a lake test !

I plan on going thru entire engine, checking timing, replacing all fuel lines, rebuilding carbs and fuel pump and anything else I can.

Then bust her off again on hose, then check out lower unit & impeller.

I have read to only use Mercury replacement parts.

The people on this forum are exceptional. As for parts, Sierra makes good parts along with others that are not Merc parts. Just ask. These guys are not shy. I personally like CDI electronics but one of my trusted contributors doesn't trust them explicitly. Use your common sense, It got you here.

For carb kits, buy Mercury.
Make sure you check the carb part number before ordering a rebuild kit.

Did you check the condition of the oil currently in the gear case? It there is water in it and it has sat for a long period of time, they water and oil will have separated and water will drain before the oil. If it had been disturbed the resulting emulsion looks like coffee with cream. Getting the gearcase pressure/vacuum tested will reveal the tightness of the seals. Use new gasket seals on the drain/fill and vent screws. You will probably need to clean the carbs. fuel lines and fuel pump.
The inline 6s are one of my favourite engines. Had an 84 115 for 14 yrs.
