Just picked up a new to me/older boat for a good price and can't find out much information on it. The boat is a 18ft Pierce Arrow with the Volvo 200d engine and 280 outdrive. The only thing I can find on Pierce-Arrow is the old car sites. Can anybody shed any light on this boat.....good/bad, things to watch etc. I've had 8 boats in the past 20 years but this will be my first I/O.

Re: New "Old" boat

You can find a lot of info in these forums. I've had a couple of Volvo Penta and I think they're great. Well designed and durable as heck. The Volvos of that era lack power trim (their only downfall) and only have the tilt moter for idle speed and trailer, however I would brace the drive when trailering.

my first I/O.

I hope you like to tinker and putz with things cause these need constant maintainence. As an experienced boater I'm sure you know.

Post a Pic!!!!!

If you have specific questions post them seperatly in the correct forum and reep the benifits of this website.

Goos Luck!!!

Thanks. The tilt motor is the one bad thing on the boat and needs to be replaced. The builder "pierce-arrow" is what I can't seem to find any info on. I generally like to do a bit of research on boats, but this one seems to be a bit rare for info on the ole' net. Much appreciated.
