Re: New old Starcraft owner checking in.

A little end of summer update; Upon a little better inspection, the transom is going to need replaced, found some soft spots when poking around with a screwdriver, and the top of it looks like mulch. Also found that the cabin floors were not replaced, and will be doing those as well. Starter issues were due to battery issues, so at least I'm not looking at replacing the starter.I ran into some over heat problems as well, and pulled the impellor and it was definitely time for replacement.Other than that, she ran great after a tuneup, hitting 29 MPH on GPS, but could use a tad more pitch on the prop since I discovered the engine hit redline very easily:eek: Got her winterized already and pulled of the leg discovering the input shaft seal is toast since gear lube came pouring out when I pulled the leg off. So now here I sit planing some mods and rebuild ideas.Have some carpet samples in hand, since I'm wanting to update the cabin after I get the floors replaced to get rid of that hideous trailer bunk carpeting down there. Was also thinking of replacing the dash with some nice stained mahogany, and doing the seat boxes up in mahogany as well. Seems fitting with it's classic cabin cruiser lines. Was thinking of using PLASTEAK for the cockpit floor, but am still open to ideas there.Shouldn't have to worry about getting bored this winter, looks like I'm going to be plenty busy.:)

Nice boat! Not sure how I missed it before. Winter anywhere is great time for boat builden, especially if you can work indoors! Looking forward to seeing mahogany dash and seat boxes!

Unfortunately, I'm going to be stuck outside. This tub is waaaay to big for my Model T sized garage. If this winter is anything like the last one, shouldn't be too bad then.
