I wanted to tap the community here for some feedback on refurbished/remanufactured power steering pumps. I am about to replace the pump on my Volvo Penta 5.7 GI-F. In addition to sourcing a new pump, I have also found a few that are remanufactured. I've used remanufactured parts on cars quite a bit 20 years ago with great success. There is a substantial price savings in going that route. What I'd like to know however is if it is worth it. Of course going new OEM is likely the safest option, but is there any appreciable downside to buying a remanufactured pump? Dos. Don'ts. Opinions. All welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I would not have any issues with using a reman PS pump, but I would also just replace the pump part only.

The pump appears to be the standard sagnaw pump in a different housing. I would keep the original pressure port and return the new on. The port screws into the pump after installing in the housing.

Would need to do a bit more research on yours, but I replaced mine with one like this, but note this is not the one I used just that I bought the pump only

if you buy a new pump (without reservoir), get one for a mid 90's GM truck.
