New Owner! 1989 233 Eclipse Question

Hi everyone, new to the site. Just purchased a 1989 Wellcraft 233 Eclipse. How are people getting up to the deck? My windshield opens, and any other boat I've been on there is some type of step. What are people using? Even if you have a different/length model of a cabin cruiser, what are you using? Thanks everyone!

I have the 233 Eclipse and there are two ways to get on deck, one is to use the corner of the portside console( left foot up will lift you to right foot on deck. don't put much weight on windshield, only for balance.I've seen another way, it was to install a single small fold step 3x3 that flips up out the way. You can aslo use the cabin air hatch/sun hatch and enter deck that way. Either way it's not for heavy people to enter without risk of damage or injury getting down. I hope this help

don't put much weight on windshield, only for balance.

Let me stress this one. If one of the windshield supports gives way with weight on it, you WILL twist the window frame and break the windshield. Please don't ask how I know this. :redface:

Has anyone with this boat tried to do a captains call exhaust with through the hull tips?? this will be my project in the next few weeks just wanted to get some insight. it is looking like i will be doing side exit tips because the Y pipe would need to be removed if going out the back under the swim platform.

I have a '88 210 Classic, and was wondering the same thing about the deck access.....I just bought the boat, and I dont see anything or anywhere a step would have been. Im thinking about one of those compact RV steps. They fold flat, lightweight, and give you about 12" or so.....

I ended up getting a lightweigt two step folding step "ladder" from Lowes. It stows under the floor in the cuddy without problem and it allows a easy step up to the deck for anchoring, putting out the fenders, etc. Just gotta be careful NOT to step on the plexiglass cover over the skylight to the cuddy. And as bekosh noted, DONT use the windshield as a weight bearing grab or trouble wil result.....
