Fastenall is great, you can get flat aluminum stock and angle at lowes. Harbor freight sells aluminum 3/16" rivets for $3.99 for the hundred.

You could use .080 stock, it's strong and easy to work with. ^^^ yeah^^^ what Sig said!

Re: New Owner 60s Falcon 14

well its done... the rib that is.. bought the aluminum... due to low stock, had to settle for 1 1/2 angle.. 1/8 thickness...

for the front ribs i made vertical bars with 1 1/2 x 1/4" alum flat stock. (since i had it already)

strong enough for me to stand on, so it should hold the floor nicely.

All riveted together with my hand riveter, because the same harbor freight air riveter is here at Princess Auto... but its $80 when its not on sale so i passed lol

tomorrow im off to Home Depot to pick up the wood for transom and floors. and some foam

also sold my old lounger seats, and got brand new singles x4. just need to find some cheap pedestals and swivels now

that stringer looks good, nice work. I would check the Clist for some pedastals.

nice work. i was going to suggest you go with 1 1/2" angle anyway....easy way to give it extra strength compared to using 3/4 or 1". way to get after it!

Very nice work!!!

That was going to be my 1st suggestion however I wasn't sure if the price was aligned with your budget...aluminum angle is mucho bux!

That turned out better then what I had envisioned. Your choice of larger aluminum angle works great

On each side of the stringer was a piece 8' long 1.5" tall at one end 4.5" tall at the other end and 6" wide. I made mine from 3 pieces of 2" thick foam. Next to that was a piece 8' long 1.5 thick and 10" wide. Under the bow was a bunch of various scraps of foam. I added 1" foam in between each of the ribs. Before I rivet the floor in I will add more scraps in where I can.

thanks. now if the temperature would warm up, so i can finish sparring the transom, then pressure wash the inside, that would be super.... its -4C (24F) here right now, and that's slowing down progress

Lookin good WC.... seems to me if I recall, the stringer doesn't increase in a linear fashion... it remains almost the same height at the stern till about the 3rd or 4th rib from the stern and then slowly increases again in a non linear fashion. That's how it was on the Jet I did last. If so, you can just shim it a bit or trim live with it.... wish I'd read your thread earlier for ya!

Regardless, what you've done so far looks stellar!

Thanks.... U scared me a bit, but mine looks different because Im going with the factory floor height, on your jet, you followed the tops of the stringers, mine has the advantage of having a good condition factory bow piece, so i conirmed with it....

pics say 1000 words...

Laid alum stock across from 2nd stringer from rear to doubler.... sits approx 1/16th off my angle piece. close enough for me

I knew id seen somewhere that someone else had fabbed that stringer.... didnt think it was on a jet though.... I must have searched all the Falcons, Darts, and holiday 14s on this site lol

Re: New Owner 60s Falcon 14

The measurements I posted were based off the original foam and a basic measurement of the stringer not at each rib. When I cut the first piece of foam and set it against the stringer it was a perfect match.

LOL! Sorry man... didn't mean to give you a heart attack there!!! :) I can see what you mean and the difference between the floor setup on the Jet vs your's!

Rock away there man!
