Friend of a cousin put me on a now new-to-me old 1979 Glastron today. Engine sounds good and upholstery is all very good. Engine is inline six cylinder Chevy badged as 165 Merc with Mercruiser drive.
Still pretty shiny and overall looks surprisingly good for its age. After spending ahile checking everything out the only thing I find not working is the ability to raise the power trim. Trim goes down but nothing happens when you try to raise it.
I'm assuming there are up and down solenoids or relays somewhere. Haven't had a chance to get too far in to it yet. Made the trip to go pick it up and drag it home today. Nothing much else happened besides that.
Price of the boat was cheap enough it could be parted out and I'd not lose anything. Hoping it's as good a toy as it's first impression made by its appearance suggests it will be.
So what's the scoop? Any particular problems that are common or things a new owner would want to know about one of these? Also what is a good parts source for when maintanance becomes necessary (especially these relays that are likely at fault in the trim right now)?
Thanks in advance!
