I went from a flip phone to a couple diff blackberry to a samsung s5 then to s9 for the last eight years and since not supported with security anymore I upgraded to an a16. Thing is huge. As always got a battery case that over doubles battery life as well as protects. So far day one the porting to visible and activation etc has been seamless. However.....

I HATE cute ringtones and stuff like that. I like the sound of a real phone and this thing only has like 20 avail on board so ok let's go download one like back in the blackberry days. I got this....

My search was for 'retro phone ringtones', found a site that seemed safe and started listening to the 'retro' ones. They are all from the early 2000s phone like wtf? So I did 'old school rigntones' Same fing thing!!

So I did 1970s ringtones and got where I needed to be but dammit man I'm past BOTH old school AND retro?!?!?!

also, GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

That is all

:p:p:D Well, old can beat the alternative ...

As a first responder, I like the old Engine 51 tones as my ringtone. Captain on the show Emergency (Micheal Norvell) retired to this area and I spent several visits with him in the nursing home he was staying. Great guy! They brought in the Officers door of Engine 51 from California and had him sign it a few years ago. So cool!

Back in 2013, I made a Ring Tone from a Song on Family Guy "Bag of Weed" Weed wasn't Legal yet, and it did turn Heads. Since 2017, weed is Legal, and everywhere, so the Shock Value is gone, but the Tune is Catchy so I still have it as the Ring Tone

Only time I did a song for when phone was being called was the Imperial March from Star Wars when the ex wife would call.
She's dead now, so the phone just sounds like - GET THIS!!! - a phone when it rings ;)

Had S9, went to s21 because S9 would not do 5G and 2G was going away

Now have S25 refurb and has more than I need

Problem with every phone change, ring tones always change and I don't want to download my old ones

When i bought my Galaxy S24 Ultra last year, all of my ringtone automatically transferred over. My wife got the same phone, but she was coming from a different provider, so hers defaulted to basic.

I have the 1980s landline ringtone for callers not on my contact list. It's obnoxious and loud.
For callers on my contact list, I have custom sounds for each, so that I know who's calling immediately. Same for notification sounds.

Every six month my docs seem frustrated my bloodwork numbers aren't really bad. I'm totally honest with him on my lifestyle choices. First visit we met, ordered blood work came back a couple weeks later and said 'huh, you don't have diabetes'

My physical last year or so doc says......"your weight is higher than your BMI" my reply was "Doc, your more fluffy than I am..... so whats your point?"

However back to the phone. currently my phone is a Google Pixel 6pro. Battery is dying again, and the replacement screen of the replacement screen is dying again (the organic part of the OLED screen is failing due to constant overheats from sitting in the sun or the hot car). So will be making another call to Asurian.......so will most likely get replaced by a Pixel 8pro or 9pro

prior to that, had an LG G4, great size, great screen and camera, loved the replaceable batteries (went thru about 30 batteries in the 6 years I had it). down side is the board design caused the processors to overheat to the point the solder joints on the processors failed. This is also the phone that factory reset on me a few times loosing a bunch of pictures. (No, I dont do cloud backup)

looked at the Z-fold phones, and folks I know that have them, have a love-hate relationship with them. most are developing a crease in the screen. time will tell on that platform

regarding ring tones, I still have my blackberry ring tones and alarm tones along with other sounds that I downloaded off the phones. Just plug in the cable to a computer and go spelunking around the operating system of the old phones, save in a folder on the computer. then copy to the new phone.

really really miss my old blackberry. perfect size, and it worked.

My wife made a 150 mile round-trip this week through country roads and left her phone (Samsung s24 Ultra) on the dash, plugged in and navigating. After awhile, it overheated and went black. Once it cooled off, it restarted okay. Had to educate her about phones on dashes. :sneaky:

In the past, when I had my phone on the dash, I'd cover it with my hat, except the screen. That worked fine.

A couple of Days ago, it was about 32-33(90-93F) and I put my phone on the Dash, 40 minutes later it was too hot to hold. I, for the first time ever saw the Red Thermometer on the screen. I took it out of the OtterBox, and held it against the AC outlet. Several minutes later It was working again. Note, to self, do not park, facing the Sun when it gets that damn hot.
