I'm looking at purchasing a new 2010 Bentley 240 Fish to take family out tubing and fishing. I like the quality vs price of this brand. I don't need to get leather seats and lost's of be;;s and whistles. I also like that the Bentley is manufactured only 5 miles from my house, if it is a good quality boat.

Bentley appears to come from factory with Mercury motors, but I've found a dealer that likes Yamahas and will install them for $900 (Yamaha increased price plus installation cost) more than the Mercury. The Yamaha has an extra 3 year extended warranty as of 9/15/10 to bring it up to 6 years.

Is there a big difference between Yamaha and Mercury?

Will a 115hp motor be enough to tube or ski behind?

What kind of performance increase should I expect from a 115 over a 90?

Would the lifting strakes option from Bentley make a difference?

I don't want to purchase a boat and then wish I had something else.

Boykin, go to the net and type in, pontoon boat tests There is a boating mag that has dozens of Pontoon Boat tests and yours may be on there, if not you will find similar ones to compare it to.

Ask the dealer what to expect from the Strakes.

My Mercury motor has a three year extended warrenty and I bought it used. I saw some place where they are offering a 5 year extended warrenty, It may be free too.

Silver Eagle, that was one of the selling points for me when we bought in June. The 5 year warranty was an offer that ended July 15, but they can always bring it back!

I have a JC 25 Triple Tube with a Honda 135 on it. It pulls a tube just fine. Even our large 4 person tube. As far as skiing is concerned there are a lot of variables to consider. Weight and skill level of skier being the most important. If you're looking to, shall we say, semi advanced slaloming, you'll be disappointed. Likewise, if you're pulling heavier skiers, again on slalom, you'll get tired quickly. I would think a 115 HP engine might be a bit small for many water sport activities.
