Hello everyone!

Yesterday my friend picked up this boat and trailer for $100.00. This will be the first restore project any of us have done. The floors were pretty well rotted and will be replaced along with the stringers. My buddies have done fiberglass work before so we shouldnt have too much trouble getting her back in shape. We were thinking about doing carpet, but does anyone know of a cheaper rhino-liner type product that we might consider instead?

The engine appears to be a '61 Envirude V-4 2 stroke 75 hp. Its got a really cool looking cover. I can't imagine this was the original motor the boat came with due to its year of manufacture, but am having trouble finding information about this particular model/year boat. Does anyone have a resource?

According to the previous owner, the boat was last running about 2-3 years ago. Can anyone point me in the direction for replacement parts, seals, gaskets etc for this old motor?

Here are some pics:

Very cool looking boat and motor. Good luck with your project! Would you mind resizeing your pics to 640x480? You can do this right in photobucket with a single click and you won't even have to update anything on here.

The guys in the Johnson/Evinrude repair forum will be able to help you with ANY of your engine questions.

Looks like you have a job ahead of you. Start taking measurements before you rip everything out. I'd be more than happy to follow the progress of this thread. :D

Sure thing.

A buddy of mine has an '86 US Marine Force 85 outboard that we are considering using instead of the motor that is on it. I get chills when I think about what may be wrong with the Evinrude motor and how hard it would be to source parts. What does everyone else think?

You'll get even worse chills about a Force!! Heck it's probably easier to get parts for the 'Rude.

Looking at your transom from the back you should see the HIN number at the top right of the transom. Post that number here and we can get you some answers. Not sure on your rudy though, you will have to look for a model number on the engine. Speaking of transom, check it thoroughly for cracks and soft spots. Usually if the deck and stringers are bad, the transom may also need replacing. Great looking steering wheel. Somebody must have beat that with a baseball bat. Somebody did a real Mickey Mouse job on repair of that, so check the rest of it carefully.. Good luck, great looking boat.

The HIN is GLA90072M78I.

The floor repair by the previous owner was a joke. He actually had two layers of plywood going. It look as though the top layer was just slapped on at some point in the past. See pics:

Don't you just have to laugh at the crap that some people do to mickey mouse their repairs? You certainly have a good friend there that's willing to put in the work. Oh ya, there's a reason they don't make Force anymore. Stay away from that junk.

Very true!!
I have a '66 and '65 'Rude and I find parts no prob for them from a place up in Michigan. I think iboats sells stuff for older motors as well-definitely woth checking out since they provide this excellent forum free of charge!!
I also love the older 'Rude's-I think it would take a lot of negligence to hurt one.:D
Good Luck! Great looking boat!
