I saw a boat just like that one not too long ago. The lady was giving it away, and $75 for the trailer it sat on. A nice project for someone to pick up. I know where one is sitting now if interested.

The hull looks identical to a 1976 Beachcraft I had, it was made in Oregon, the deck is almost identical, the only difference is the bow seating. Mine was rated for 90HP, it came with a 50HP Johnson and I put a 90 on. I ended up putting the 50 back on as the 90 was too fast and used too much fuel. The ride was too rough in anything but smooth water to use the power of the 90. It did about 26MPH with the 50 and about 37MPH with the 90.

Not to steal this thread,but I'd like to ask a question. I found a boat similar to this one,I am wondering what kind of performance I could get with it,with my 35 horse Johnson on it?? [I would use it only for fishing the Illinois river and a few lakes in Illinois] Could I get over 20 mph out of it?

INTERESTING NEW INFO:

The HIN comes back to a company named Robert Jurica. He also made Olympian Boats, and R J Smith Co. boats.

It is a 1977 Model.

Boat was made in Humble, TX.

Anyone have experience with the manufacturer?

Thinking of hanging a 1979 Merc 90HP on this . . . with trim/tilt . . . . . what do you guys think?

I can get the motor sans prop for $425 and I have a 19" and 21" prop already.

I drilled out some old holes in the transom that were filled and wet wood was inside.

Now I'm trying to decide if the hull is worth the work. With a new transom, I would have no problem mounting my 1973 115HP Johnson V-4.

You guys must be tired of this one, maybe I will just haul it to the dump, LOL.

I have a couple of ideas;

I might just epoxy the transom holes shut, and use it in local 'electric motor only' lakes.

Otherwise I will start tearing it down. I will post photos of removing the top deck and procedural details - maybe it will help someone else. If I get it all tore down to the basics, I can then decide if I want to put money into it, or just scrap it and count my hours as experience gained.
