Hello all! I am looking for a prop recommendation for my 95 Ranger. I'm trying to get a better hole shot and quicker acceleration out of it. I currently have a 14.25x24 SS 3 blade on there and at 5500 RPMs it turns a little over 55 on the speedo. Motor is a 1995 175 EFI mercury. Thanks in advance for any replies and recommendations.

Going to a 21P blade will give you better low-end performance, but you will have to watch that you don't exceed your max RPMs.

Whose stainless prop and what style do you have now? (brand name and type)??? 1995 Ranger "What!!". Without knowing what prop brand and type you have now we can't tell you if you have a good "stern lifter" or if its a "bow lifter". And knowing what model Ranger you have would be good to know.

The prop is a mercury prop, came from the factory with it on there. Is a Ranger 492VS.

Lowering your pitch would increase you hole shot, stay with a Merc prop, a Stainless Steel Proformance a good choose but will cost more.

Went to the local marine shop and they had a 14x21 tempest SS prop with a hub kit for $350. Is a tempest prop any good, is that a fair price? All the other ones he had were $600+ $50 for the hub kit.
