New prop for Mako 17?

We have a 1983 Mako 17 with a 1988 88hp Rude and a 13x17 prop. Boat is new to us. The top end is about right, but we're looking for some more acceleration for water sports, etc. We would willingly give up some top end for acceleration.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

-Nick

Is the prop you have now vented? Holes drilled just behind the leading edge of blades where they contact hub....
Give us some specs if you would please, such as WOT RPM with a normal load.

No venting, it is cupped. WOT is typically 5300-5400, I have an aluminum and a stainless prop of the same size. Most Mako 17's have larger engines, but I'd like to make this work.

Thanks,

First, that 90 degree crossflow likes 5800 for a WOT target.
I would drop to a good quality 15P SS and you'll have hole-shot and not lose alot on top-end and your RPM will be closer to where it should be.
