Okay so my current aluminum prop is a 14 1/2 19 pitch. I’m wanting to upgrade to a stainless. But can’t seem to find the exact match. What are the equivalent? And best price. Also the boat is a 19 foot open bow with a 4.3 merc. Thanks!

Theoretically you should go down 2 in pitch for ss vs al.So you have a 19 should be 17p ss.Now with that being said I went from 17 to 15 and then had to go to 16p to get mine perfect. They usually have sales on ss props on iboats and it will tell you what you need hubwise.

So you have a 14 1/2 19 pitch prop achieving ? wot rpm as how loaded. This is a must know before plan playing with props. Is there anything that would like to better : increase hole shot or top end speed ?

I am not looking to do anything performance wise. My current prop is just a lil dinged up. Wot is around 4500-4600. It’s a 1991 4.3l merc carbureted. I’m not sure on the drive gear ratio at the moment. Thanks! Just looking for best SS prop for equal performance.

What’s your current top speed?

out of curiosity, what make/model boat?

Most stainless props are performance props simply because stainless allows for more aggressive blade shapes and whatnot. As for those stainless props that don’t offer a performance advantage (I.e. mercury vengeance) over aluminum, there’s not much point in spending the extra money.

if you do go to a non performance stainless like a vengeance then you need not reduce pitch as the vengeance is a stainless casting of a no frills aluminum prop.

If you’ve got an alpha gen2 drive the ratio should be on the side of the gearcase. Otherwise, let us know your top speed (gps preferred) and we can make a highly educated guess as to your ratio.

ill send you a pm.

Just for the record, what's the wot rpm range factory stated for that engine ? Theoretically answers doesn't work as expected. Need to water test SS props in the 17-18 pitch range and check achieved wot rpm. If wanting to duplicate the actual performance of the current alum 19 pitch prop which you like, buy same new.

Regarding the hub kit question...

Does your prop have the removable hub now? Or is it permanently pressed in? If it is a removable hub you should be able to find a prop designed to use the removable hub and save a few bucks and use the hub you have now with the new prop. If your prop does not have a removable hub then your decision is do you buy a new hub with or without a removable hub.
