I just bought a new 2011 Tahoe Q7SF. I am new to iboats as well! We have already had an overheating issue, but the dealer quickly fixed it and said a recalled part from 2010 models somehow made it onto our boat! I was shocked to say the least!
Hey all, quick question. I am in the 20 hour break-in period and the manual says not to exceed 3/4 throttle... I asked my dealer if that refers to 3/4's of the max rpm's and he said yes. So i have been looking for anywhere that stated what the rpm rating is for full throttle. The engine is a 5.0 L 220HP. Thanks for the help!
The recalled part was the power steering cooler. It's common on all of the affected Mercury engines, not just Tahoes. It a cooler that circulates water around a cylinder to cool the fluid. They went from making them out of metal, to making them out of plastic, and they started breaking. Once it broke, the engines pumped a lot of water to the broken cooler, and could flood the engine compartment. They had the plastic ones for a year or two. My 2011 was also under the recall, but the part had already been changed out before I took delivery of the (new) boat. If I remember correctly, WOT is around 4800RPM. I'm sure that you are beyond the break-in period not, but I'm posting this for the benefit of others searching the forums in the future. I have the 5.0L TKS V-8.
