I had a lack of power in my 74 135 rude that I suspected was the reeds. Saturday as I was returning to the way in, the motor got very load, and lost even more power. I idled the last 200 yards to the dock and shut it down. Is there any chance that the reeds may have broken off? I checked compression and all is still good. I turned the flywheel by hand with the plugs removed and nothing seems loose. I tried moving the pistons with a dowel and they are all tight.

If anyone has an exploded veiw of the powerhead it would help alot. I will probably have to tear into it to figure this out.

When a reed goes, you will find fuel and compression being spit back out thru the carb throat on each compression stroke. It's pretty easy to tell if you have a broken reed by taking the airbox cover off and checking each carb throat when the engine is running. A bad reed will negatively affect crankcase compression, which also will tend to lower the cylinder compression on the cyl with bad reeds. You can view an exploded parts list for your engine on Bombardier's website: epc.brp.com.

I agree to an extent. The fuel should blow back through the carbs. However a compression test shouldnt show any difference as there is nothing to keep it from drawing air in through the open reed. Air wont be forced across the piston clearing the exhaust, but since it isnt running when you test it, there is no exhaust, just air.
I didnt have any fuel blowing back so is it possible that I have a leak in the case between cylinders? Keep in mind that it is not running lean on any cylinder, so I doubt that its an air leak.

Likely a lower bearing failure as I have seen several of these this year and several upper bearing.
