I am looking to install new rub-rail all around my boat. I know this is going to be a fairly easy job, but I need to find a good deal on the rub rail first. It's a 19.5 ft Runabout. Can anyone help with this?

It's an 89 Raven-Runabout, with a mercruiser. I have almost completed the whole boat (excluding motor) I have done all new interior, carpet, radio. Now all I need is a new rub-rail.

Try calling Taco at 800-653-8568 and see what they recommend. They make a lot of rubrails for boats like this. Let us know what they say too. Oh, be prepared to tell them what your current rubrail is like...measurements and so forth.

Are you replacing bracket and all, or just the rubber or whatever was there? Taco makes some neat metal rubrails. Mine was redone with white rope after straightening out and painting the bracket. Very inexpensive and I think it looks good. Gives a subtle bit of texture to your rig. Not sure exactly what yours looks like, but you can see my rope rubrail in the pics on the homepage button.

that looks like a nice boat Ol'Norse, I am replacing the whole thing....the metal bracket, and the rubber rail also. I'm not sure the rope look would look as good on my boat as it does on yours.

Understood. Got any pictures? Don't think I've ever come across a Raven Runabout. Would love to see your work.

Taco's site is www.tacometals.com.

I haven't put them up, but I will try to have them up before the day is out. I see your from the Athens area, are you on Lanier by any chance? I normally put in on Allatoona.

Yes, I keep my boat by Lanier. I like that it's larger and clearer than the slightly closer Lake Oconee. Never been on Allatoona. How's it compared to Lanier?

I love Allatoona, it's also only a ten minute drive for me. They say Lanier is cleaner, but I don't see any difference, Allatoona is a pretty big lake....but like Lanier it has some spots with traffic. All in all its a good lake to just cruise, or take the family out on. I have only fished Allatonna a couple of times, and I didn't do all that well. I think I ended up drinking more than I can remember (wasn't on a boat-I was on the shore line FYI)

Hey Ol Norse,

I always liked that look of the rope rubrail. My boat has a grey plastic rubrail insert. What would be involved in removing it and replacing with rope?
