Just bought my first Sea Ray last week. It is a 1995 180 signature with 4.3 lx mercruiser and Alpha 1 Gen 11 out drive. We took it out on a test run before we bought it in a snow storm but ,feel better knowing we saw that everything worked as it should. The boat has 160 hours on it and has a full camping enclosure that has never been used since bought new for $900.00. I changed the lower unit oil in it and will be getting the water pump replaced before boating season starts. Also going to give it a tune up. The boat is in great condition and i think we will love owning a Sea Ray. Still trying to work out some bugs with the trailer brakes but, overall boat is a 10 out of 10.

Re: New Sea Ray owner

I would feel better putting some plugs and a distributor in it. The previous owner didn't do anything. I am all about preventive maintenance. When he listed it on Craig's list it had 160 hours. The hour gauge say's 224. He said that his kids must have been playing around in the boat and left the key in the on position which in turn clocked some hours. You never know what the case is but at 224 for a 1995 that is still very low. And yes, when we got done running the boat we drained all the plugs and let the lower unit water out. When i bought it 4 day's later i put it into my garage and winterized it with some antifreeze and changed lower unit oil. Can't wait till weather warms up.
