Im at a stand still I can not figure out what this noise is coming from I attached a video link for anyone to look out.... The gimbal bearing was recently replaced but it didn't do this noise right away. I have the valve covers off because I was adjusting the rockers.... Any ideas what it could be????

I took the boat out saturday and it ran great just the sound is a little concerning

Tough call from a video camera... Can't really pinpoint it. It sounds a lot like the timing is way off, or at least one cylinder is firing out of order. Have you done anything else besides the gimbal bearing? Best to start with the basics, check your spark plugs and check compression while those are out. I might even suggest you look at the water pump, but that appears to be new...

Could be the mechanical fuel pump lever or pushrod for it, causing a gap in that movment. It is a very even rhythm which fits that scenario. The noise is a little more deep in tone though than I would expect from a fuel pump tick.

Timing is right on... We replaced gaskets, rods, water pump... It does it when the motor gets hot if that helps

What is the oil pressure? Collapsed lifter?
Disconnect one plug wire at a time and start the engine. Piston slap or a bearing problem will cause the issue to lessen or go away when that cylinder is not making power.
Exhaust manifold leak is possible. Those are some simple things to check. You said you replaced gaskets and "rods". What rods and what gaskets and why? Was this an attempt at a rebuild or what?

Replaced gaskets because the previous owner had a broken rocker stud due to a bent rod. So i took off the heads to get to the bent rod... So while i was there i changed head gasket, manifold gasket and exhaust gaskets... My oil pressure is around 75. I had the boat on the water this weekend and it ran great no issues... The sound does go away when there is a load put on the motor... But it also maybe the motor overpowering the sound..

So i just found out that my compression on cylinder 1 is good at 100 psi, number 3 is at 75, and number 5 is 150... What do you think it is?

Compression numbers of 100 and 75 are very low.

What do you think are causing that?

Could be many things. Do a cylinder leak down test.

Headgasket cracked between 1 and 3? How is 2,4, and 6 PSI?

The compression on the other side is good on 1 but the other 2 cylinders are a little low... Not as low as #3... However I took off the head and discovered that there is a lot of oil residue caked up on the lifters... Could I have a sucked lifter???

Do you think I should get the lifters changed out???

Cylinder leak down test like I mentioned a few posts ago.

It was done a few days ago.. The only reason why it was done because my father figures it valves but I just want to be sure before we pour some money in them to get them done... They both relatively look like this..

When I did mine a few weeks ago I had the valves done when they milled the head. I figured it was off and easy at that point. Cost me an extra $100 for I6.

Which of course you can't tell anything from by just looking at them.

My mechanic says clearly the heads have a few sucked valves hopefully that will solve my problem..
