ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIRED
When posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
speed, better fuel consumption
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
came with the original motor....its SS
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
i know its 17 pitch but im not sure about diameter
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
5600@39
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
johnson, J120TLCEM, 1989, 120 HP with 2:1 Gear ratio
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
Renken CC deep V, 1976, 18'8" aprox 2000lbs with gear, 2 people and fuel
the prop that i have came with the original motor and previous owner decided to paint it... the prop started to rust and the paint started to peel... so i figured before i end up buying a new one maybe i should get all that off... took it to work and sand blasted it to clean the rust and the paint....
but for some reason after this i lost 200 rpms and 3mph, even though the surface its still pretty smooth....
my slip before was aprop 10%(5800 RPMS,42MPH ) but now its 15%(5600,39MPH) which i guess its pretty high so maybe its time for a new one...
i do a lot of fishing and cruising so if you could give me some advice on a good ss prop that can give me some speed and good gas mileage that would be great....
thank you
