I have a single axle trailer with 15" tires, D rated and 6 lug wheels. Loaded with boat and gear about 4400 pounds. I've been told I'm better with bias tires with a heavy loaded single axle trailer. Any comments appreciated. Thanks
Bias tires are cheaper and are made differently than radial trailer tires. Heck, some people don't even know that they make radial trailer tires... they are remembering the old days. But radials will have a pooch at the ground and will have a little more bounce but will do just fine. Just don't buy car radial tires and you will be ahead of most people.
Well you answered the question yourself. Make sure the tires are rated for at least 2200 lbs. My guess is the 15" load range D tires are exactly right.
15" car tires aren't what you need. ST stands for special trailer service.
I bet if you look on the trailer tongue you will find a capacity & tire load placard. Go by that.
