As a 36 year old retired mechanic it's hard to admit defeat....especially to admit I can't do the things I've done my whole life. If there are no hits on the motor and drive I'll rebuild it and use it till the drive breaks and go from there. As long as my pharmacy doesn't run out of the percosets I think i can get it done...lol

Dude, rebuilding glass is awesome, a few hits with respirator off and i won't need pain meds for a couple hours...lol

Only reason I would rebuild at this point is cause I wouldn't be able to replace it with a working safe boat for the $700 it will cost me to rebuild this one. And i'm not ready to take a complete hit on just junking this if I can't sell the motor and drive. Only have room for one boat and no storage to hold parts till they sell, so gotta do something. Figure if i get a year, great...if not a new rebuilt drive is like 1200, ill just replace the whole thing. Still throwing around ideas.

My mistake, they were cobras....a place in ny sells rebuilt complete cobras for around that...I misread the ad. I've used them before, they are pretty good...sells stuff on eBay too.

What goes bad on these drives? Lower units or upper gear sets? I'm curious now.
