New Starter won't turn engine...???

78 OMC 305 with bad starter... replaced with new starter. The starter now turns over, but doesn't turn engine...

any thoughts?

Sounds like you have the wrong new starter.

is the starter actually kicking out and trying to turn the motor?
Check all your battery connections for rotted cables/cable ends

When was the last time your old starter turned the motor?
