I just got a new starter for my 1979 Mercruiser 3.0. When tested the started works fine. Even when in the boat and tested with the actual wires it works great. When i install the starter to the engine the starter wont spin, just clicks. I am able to turn the engine over by hand with a wrench, its turns smoothly, so i know it isnt seized. I am thinking this could be a possible grounding issue. What else could it be? Any thoughts on this?
