Use peanut butter or PL to attach/bed them.

Re: new stringer system

Coors, I have probably the same hull as yours, but it's a 200 Horizon, you have a 205 Sundowner cuddy, right? Anyway in the original literature (fast facts on the FW website) for the boat, it mentions something about '5 stringer reinforcement' and when I re-did mine I saw the 4 main stringers that run from the bow to the rear bulkhead where the outer ones continue back and the inner ones stop at the bulkhead and then the engine stringers go from there to the transom. I figured that this 5th stringer must be under the gas tank area and the ski locker in the bilge areas, but since the structure there was not rotted I didn't open up either of those areas. Who knows maybe there is a stringer of some kind in there. It says the same thing for both your cuddy and my Horizon bowrider.

I have found that this is a great riding hull for its size, the 21* deadrise must help, it takes waves and wakes much better than I've thought based on its size.
That looks the same, except I have 5 supports across the tank.
Same interior color too.
What ski lockers? I have none.

Woop, I missed this question somewhere above.

The stringers can be bonded to the hull walls if you like (by the way, the longitudinal stiffeners are the "stringers" and the crosswise ones are "ribs". The stringers must be attached to the transom just like they are to the hull, stronger if possible (with knees).

You can put knees on the ends of the ribs if you want and extend the ribs up the side of the hull if you like. It'll stiffen the sides some. There are easier ways to do that though, like molding tubes into glass on the sides.

The other thing it'll do is take up some space in the boat interior.

I considered using this sort of scheme for lake superior, where I expect to be out in 5-6 foot waves occasionally... are you in the ocean?

Re: new stringer system help please !!!

one of the simple rules of thumb...is build it the same way the manufacturers did.....

but man thoes strings are thick !!!!!

and the frames.....holy smoke !...(if we call the stringers longitudnal...and the frames lateral...).......

the frames are not that crucial....a lot of crafts have a longitudnal stringer on the deck with a full longitudnal/lateral cap on them to reinforce the chine area...this inverted L shaped stringer sits on the deck by the chine......and the deck itself is a "hull stiffiner"

frames are uasually used to bed the deck and steady the strings....i think yours are overkill......but then again...i didnt design the boat.....

if you want..you can take the frame all the way to the side...bed them in with peanut butter or pl......

remember...early boat builders used just about any thing and everything to put the craft togeather....that means.....dont overthink the project....(as i am doing ).....and just build your boat....the way you think is best with all avaliable knowlage.....a 16 foot hull is very strong with just the poly and gellcoat...its really tough...!....you had to take a high speed grinder with special discs to tear it apart!......

hope that eases your mind

cheers

Re: new stringer system help please !!!

one thing ....if i may suggest....is make sure the craft is level and supported equally when you bed the new stringers.......

it might be just the pic playing with me....but it looks like there is a slight twist in the hull
