I don’t get to drive it much to actually figure out

Wife 06 320 cdi has front proximity sensors and the left one randomly goes off. Had it to our small town german owned shop several times over the years for other stuffs and have always had that included on the service ticket. Never fixed, always mumbled something. .ast winter i was sitting in it waiting to warm up and saw a switch next to gearshift. Pushed it a few times didn't do anything so I looked it up in the webs. Guess what it does?

On my STS the Traction/Stability Control was on one side of the Gearshift, on the other side was the 4 way Flasher.
This car has the AWD and Traction/Stability Control Buttons next to the Shifter.
At least the STS Shift Lever could be used for Manual up/down shifting. The XT5, only has some stupid flapper things in front of the Steering Wheel. What Idiot designed that Crappy Idiotic design?

The BMW we just got rid of had a HUD too. Problem for me was that unless it's raining or at night, I wear polarized sunglasses. The first mate loved it though. She thought it was some seriously high-tech stuff.

Had same issue with the displays on the boat.

Found a pair of polarized glasses (Foster Grant) advertised as display compatible. Works like a charm in both situations

Paddle shifters are all the rage with the performance guys. Full shift control w/o your hand leaving the steering wheel.

I played with them a bit with we first bought the vehicle. Kool feature…not sure why they’re needed on a SUV

Our XT4 has them behind the wheel as well. Had that on several vehicles over the years , never really used it. Overall I find the new technology on the XT4 to be very user friendly.
The turbo 4 cyl in it is OK but a huge step down from 4 cyl. turbo we had in an ATS coupe. That little car was a blast.

The Tech on the XT5 is actually easy to use and understand, but some I think are Useless and Never use. Those are Nav System, Apple Play, Onstar, and that pay Radio thing, kept getting annoying Texts/Emails, and Snail Mail from the last two for over a Year.

I will agree with OnStar and XM radio, but I wouldn’t own a vehicle w/o Apple Play.

As a Sales guy, Apple play provides hands free operation of phone, text and email services. Gives me voice command Navigation with real time traffic and speed enforcements notifications. Provides full support for my Spotify (music) account

Both vehicles support emergency service notifications (Bluetooth) in the event of an accident w/o secondary services like OnStar.

Last fall Mrs. Dingbat t-boned a guy that pulled out in front of her from a side street. We live 5 minutes away. State police where on scene at my arrival

They're actually slowly moving away from having carplay and android auto in vehicles (projection) in favor of a built in android automotive which they can then charge you for cell service for instead or you'd have to use your phone as a hot spot. I kind of understand as getting a projection based system to work on a newly developed vehicle and be compatible with an ancient tech wise phone is going to be extremely limiting in how far you can push the system... but like maybe instead just start cutting out phones instead of charging us a subscription for that and... idk... the use of seat heat?

GM is actually all Android at this point but they are trying to move into something in house. It hasn’t come through yet. My Wife loves Sirius XM country channels and for $5/ month I’ll let her keep it. I actually put a Sirius receiver in my car as my commute is in a 100% cell dead zone. I do the threaten to cancel thing when it comes up to the 1yr. You’ll always get the introductory rate or very close with only a little complaining.
