New tire design - no problems with air pressure, valve stem, punctures, finding compressed air, under-inflation,etc. Shown at the Philadelphia car show.

Michelin came out with that design last year. Not a bad idea but I suspect the entire assembly would be $$$$$$$ high priced. The "rim" is flat and bonded to the rubber.

I bet that type design would be better than the current "run flat" tires on the market (which wear out at a horrible rate and are too much money). I would like to see that design inside a current tire.

gonna be hard to keep 'em balanced........
getting crap mud,snow etc. stuck in those holes....
that's really old design they where on something I can't remember what,
right after solid rubber tires and before pneumatic tires..

help me out folks what were they on? they were on
something about the size of a wagon or hand cart....
dang I hate when I can't remember.........

You would need to limit tires like that to "rice burners" that stay in the city and don't see snow and mud. Cold weather would make them seem a bit breaky also. Hard on suspensions and the like. Chief

is that the final design? seems more like it's just for show, so you can see what's new about the tire. i can't imagine they would sell them open sided like that.

It been tryed every way you can think of on bicycles and air still wins big time

And mind you serious bicycle people have no problem spending 50 to100 dollars on a singel tire and 500 plus on a wheel

It would seem that the "spokes" would become fatigued after a bit and run flatter than they're supposed to.
