Yeeha! Got a new set of tires for my Jeep yesterday. Felt like a kid on Christmas morning. New tires are just about my favorite toy.
pics!!!! :) I know - when I got my new wheels and tires for the 06 Mustang GT last summer, it was epic, (already had Eibach lowering springs) especially as I got away from 20's and back to 18's and sticky Sumitomos, like a new car :)

Where a tire is made tends to not matter one bit, but there are surely better tires than others and I know of at least one brand of USA made tires that has been putting out absolute trash for ~2 years

Must be that time.

Put new thread on my wife’s horse trailer last week. New thread on my car Wednesday.

Sad part…tires (Michelin) on my car where only 2 years old. Racking up the miles…

Goodyear Assurance Weatherready. Great handling, H speed rating which is perfect for me. Smooth as a gravy sandwich.

The old tires were Tripletreds which were great when they were new but they were over 7 years old and were getting noticeably hard. I don't think I've ever had a set of tires that long before but in retirement I don't drive all that much anymore. Plenty of tread left but like I say, the ride was getting a little rough and the handling was going away. I didn't realize how much until I took the first drive on the new ones. Hoo boy!

Anyway, fun. Driving places I don't need to go just for the joy of it.

The Weatherready is the top rated all weather tire available at the moment. Good choice

I've had tripletreads on my last 2 cars, and also my wife's last 2. Awesome tires. I didn't log in years, but I got 80,000 miles on each set.

I just bought a set of Assurance Max Life, only because they didn't make my size in tripletread (20"). t took 6 weeks to get them because the Goodyear factory was out of that size. They seem good so far, but I was disappointed that they were made in Chile.

Tripletreds were discontinued last year. Anything remaining in inventories are old stock. I 'think' that the Assurance Comfort Drive is the successor to that product line. I'd have to log in and check the training materials. I'm a Goodyear Tire advisor through my work

I put a set of Michelin Cross Climate tires on my wife's Subaru Forester and she loves them. My Jeeps have General Grabber AT2s on them... excellent tires and my son's has Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, also excellent.
Trailer has Kenda Load Star bias tires, even though people seem to prefer steel belted radials I still feel that bias tires are better in some ways. I've had no failures ever and have replaced them only when I see cracks in the tread form, usually by about 7 years. Bias tires are simpler to make less prone to failures due to less than great quality control and have thicker & stronger sidewalls than radials which is good for trailers that hit curbs and are used on lousy boat ramps. Steel belted radials require much better levels of quality control as Firestone found out the hard way not once but twice (500 radial recall and Wilderness AT recall on Ford Explorers). Back when the 500s were recalled, we were still using bias belted (fiberglass) tires on our cars, radials we were not convinced were the way to go then (mid to late 70s). The basic view then was that American companies had not really gotten radial technology down and if you wanted a radial stick to Michelin or Continental.
The bias tires on this trailer have a 4 plies for the sidewall and 5 for the tread, vs a radial that has 2 plys for the sidewall. 225/75-15 D rated bias tires.

Hard to go wrong with Michelin.

Replaced the OE Wranglers on the pickup at 30k miles with Michelin Defender LTX M/S.
The bias tires on this trailer have a 4 plies for the sidewall and 5 for the tread, vs a radial that has 2 plys for the sidewall. 225/75-15 D rated bias tires.
Just put a set of 10 ply, E-rated, Carlisle Radial Trail HD of the same size on the horse trailer. We’ll see how they hold up

Cars have suspension systems that are tuned to radials, so that's a different story. But for trailers I agree with your assessment 100%.

The only time I will put a radial on any trailer is when they don't make a bias in that size and weight rating. ST tires IMHO are crap.

I had Tripletreds on my old Jeep (97 GC) when they were called Fortera. The ones I just replaced only had about 45000 on them but they were old and the handling and ride quality was going away. I don't drive that much since I retired so I guess my tires are going to die of old age before the tread wears away.

As I said, the last 2 tire replacements on my wife's car were Tripletreads. When we sold the second one and traded for a 2017 Traverse ( HD suspension and class 3 trl package) it came equipped with Forteras. At the time, not knowing what they were, I R&D'd it and found they were the new version at the time. Tripletreads were still available as an alternate.

The car is now 4 years old and the tires show very little wear, and performance is exceptional.

For Jeeps and other 4x4s you can’t beat General Grabber ATs. Great all around tires.

Grabbers are outdated. They 'work' but the performance is easy to surpass. Falken Wildpeak AT3W, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT are all tires that will outperform the old Grabber AT2 or the newer ATX

Obviously, we all drive differently, and have different vehicles, thus we all have different opinions.

In my case, I can't count the number of tires I bought over the past 53 years.

The worst I ever had were Coopers. Followed by Uniroyal, Dunlop, General, Firestone and Hankook. Michelins were so-so.

OTOH, I never had a bad Goodyear.

I have found that the Grabbers wear more evenly than Duratracs at least on the Jeeps
