New to 1955 evinrude 25 hp

Hello, I'm taking my dads 1955 Evinrude 25hp. he died a few years ago and I know the motor has not run for at least 10 years.

I own a 66 mustang, so am a bit handy with carbs and engines, besides:
making sure its not frozen,
replacing the impeller
plugs, GC oil
cleaning the carb
new spark plugs

what else do I need to look at?

I've not picked it up yet, trying to build a plan. it will be on his '55 Alumacraft 16'

FIRST: check compression, then check spark. Spark should jump a 1/4"+ gap with an open air spark tester. If it doesn't pass the spark test, pull the flywheel and check the coils, points, condensers. Do these tests before pouring any money into it.
