New to boating anchoring question

I have a 58 Alumacraft Flying C with a covered bow everything i have seen or read says to anchor off of the bow. With the covered bow and windshield it looks like it might be impossible to tie a anchor on the bow. So what is a boater supposed to do?

You will need to get over that windshield to secure the anchor line to the front eyelet. That will keep the front of the boat aimed at the wind and waves. Otherwise, if you had the stearn tied off, you could easily get swamped with waves coming over the back.

I agree it safer and better to anchor form the bow in any kind of current wind or waves.

It does not look to me like it would be safe or easy to clime over the window.
Even if you did clime out on the bow with no rails I think you would find it hard to reach your bow Eye.

You still have several options
If you anchor in water close to the same depth all the time then you could select
a anchor line the right length for that depth.
Tie the end of the line to the bow eye or that lift hand hold on the bow.
Now before launching pull the anchor line around the boat to where someone can handle
the line from behind the window.
Hand that person the line and add one extra foot. At that point tie another line to the anchor line with a
knot that will not slip.

Now you keep the anchor and line behind the window.
To anchor you come to your spot and head into the current or wind which ever is stronger. Put the motor in slow reverse and lower the anchor.
Let all the line out and it is tie to the bow so you are all set.
Now to retrieve you start engine and slow foward and pull on the second line to attached to the anchor line.
When you have pulled the anchor line to you smiply grab the anchor line and
pull the anchor line in while someone drives the boat up over the anchor.

If you anchor in water of a lot of different depth the above will not work very well.
You could try running the bitter end of your anchor line thru the bow hand lift up over the window and into the boat.
You would still need a line around the anchor line to pull the anchor back to the boat. A sliding ring works good here.

If you would like to spend some money you could install a bow anchor roller and diviet.
Where you just pull the anchor up intil it pulls into the divite. Secure with a streach cord or tie the line off.
So the line would be pulled into the pasenger area until the anchor is tight in the divit.

Another way is to run the line thru that bow lift handle and use a boat hook to reach up and
catch the line and pull into the back to retreive the anchor.

i have a cleat in the center of the deck that i can reach over the windshield. you deploy anchor, over the gunnel, and with a boat pole, guide the line into the guide, then tie off on cleat. to retrived you get slack on the line, use the pole flip the out of the guide, and retrived over the gunnel.

Like tashasdaddy said, but looking at your picture it also looks like you are missing the rubber bumber on your trailer where your bow rests. Looks like the boat is already dented there. Might want to replace that before you puncture a hole through there.

Thanks for the info the only problem i am having now is understanding all the boating lingo . Like gunnel etc. I am probably going to do the anchor off the front tie down and the second rope to pull it in.
