New to boating and esp these engines.. need help!

It's hard for us to make an assessment of what it will cost to restore the 90 without pictures and/or descriptions of the powerhead. A new trigger will cost you $500 if it's faulty and a new wiring harness $300 if the wires are corroded. Do you have the control box?

Thanks for the info. Not yet, I haven't had time to tear the motor housing off. I bought it, built a stand and then put it in my garage for now. I'll get those pics soon. Wife just had a kid so been at the hospital. As far as the boat goes, I've already ripped everything out of it and will be cutting the floor out to replace everything. I'm thinking that all the wood is rotten, so just gotta start cutting and then rebuilding the boat.

Scott, private lake. Boat wouldn't be taken on state or
federal waters. How do you know it is to heavy? Overpowered, I agree. But I know that. Is there a formula for determining the wieght distribution for an outboard?

yes, and i told you where to look.

the 33CFR has all the formulas and requirements for all marine vessels.
