Well experience tells us that knocking only lets you know some ones at the door. You have to open it to SEE what’s on the other side!!! Boats of this vintage with solid stringers and transom are very rare. The history of this forum has all the proof anyone needs!!!i replaced about 1/2 the deck before new boat carpet and when doing so i knocked on the stringers, sounded fine. motor mounts solid and fasteners in place as they should. I did have these things checked by a professional mariner/mechanic out of San Diego. I’ve hired him on two separate occasions (not cheap).
I learned that if you drill a 1/4-1/2" drill bit into wood and black crud comes back, that means you have lots of work ahead of you.Well experience tells us that knocking only lets you know some ones at the door.
