new to boating looking for advice

I was always into dragracing cars said i have no use for a boat but when my brother bought a boat and my son enjoyed it i found a 1963 starcraft 18 foot with an evinrude 75 on the back had to put a floor in it we had a few little problems when we took it out the first couple times but it has been alot of fun we bought a ski bob tube and the wife and kids love it what other things would a boat like this be good for other than fishing and just cruising not sure if anyone would like to ski but would like to know if anyone thinks the boat is capable before spending the money on a set for them to try it seems to be on plane almost instantly and runs about 38 mph according to the gps but it has no tach so not sure the rpm it is running

I would think your boat could pull up a skier on two ski's without much problem, popping a slalom skier up may be more difficult. There is also kneeboarding, which is easy to learn and doesn't require a lot of boat power. Have fun!!

thanks for the thoughts i may check into that would knee boarding be to hard for a 7 year old

I as well as my kids and now grandkids, find knee boarding easier to accomplish than skiing or wakeboarding. It's very low speed(15-18mph) means when you do fall there is little chance of any injuries. Knee boarding for 10 years and absolutely no injuries. Keep in mind that would include responsible boat driving.

well as i said this is something very new to me so i am probably the most cautious driver out there right now i try to find places that are pretty empty to do anything it took me about 6 times of driving the boat to put it to wot but am definately appreciative of any pointers you can give me thank you
