Make sure you disclose the fact that you put in an auto motor... could be a liability issue down the line.

Boom.

Re: new to boating need help

well i took my boat out to the lake yestrday test drive before i sell and i tell u i was going 55 miles like nothing and thats whith a 77camaro carb and distr so i took it out for about 3 hours or so runs good so i think im going to keep it just to let every one know the carb and distr cab are great even thou that they arent marine i had no problom what so ever ill keep u guys updated

It's not a matter of whether or not they will "work", or not.

The issue is that if your automotive carb leaks fuel into the bilge (gasoline is heavier than air), it will collect down there. All it takes is one spark from that automotive distributor, and it's curtains for your boat, and possibly you and your passengers.

Spend a little bit of extra money, and get the correct parts. If you have insurance, your policy will be voided by using the wrong parts.

If you don't have insurance, you're probably going to be looking at a MAJOR lawsuit, should anything go wrong.

Run on sentences are EVERYBODY's problem! :D

Glad to hear you're doing the smart thing, and getting correct parts. If you're going to continue running the boat, make sure you check the bilge for the smell of gas, and run the blowers for 5 min. before starting (you should do this anyway).

If you smell gas, STOP EVERYTHING!

As far as the head gaskets go, I can understand no wanting to pull it halfway through the summer, when so much of the season has already been eaten up. You'll probably be fine for the next few weeks. Then just replace 'em with some good old blue Fel-Pro head gaskets.
