So I came across an old 12 ft Smoker Craft boat for dirt cheap, with trailer and a running engine. While it was nothing incredible, I've shined is up quite nice and made it fishing worthy once again. I searched the hull for the HIN, but there was none. Perhaps corrosion or a grinder got the best of it. What I am writing this post for is help identifying approximate year of the boat. The boat is 12 feet long and 54" wide. Particular interest is the plastic moulded company logo that was on each side. As soon as I am able to upload photos, I will.

Welcome aboard. Photo upload tutorial HERE.

What year does your paper work say? What year is your outboard?

1971 Mercury 2 Stroke 7.5 HP. Since old aluminum boats of that size were never required to be titled, when a title was made for it, they used a generic state number.

Look around a bit HERE. HIN's weren't required on boats back in '71 - so, good chance there isn't a number. Maybe a serial number on a capacity plate if you can find it.

Thats awesome. Thanks. If the boat is measuring right, then it is most likely a 1971 Zephyr. Thank you sir.
