I just purchased a silverline nantucket with 110 evinrude. I had a lot of trouble starting it. I started looking around and found a lot of the hoses rotted. also the vro has been by-passed, they said the motor had run with in the passed year . i don`t think so .After replacing all gas lines water lines everything seems fine. should I look for any more trouble spots this motor is all new to me . but i am pretty handy on most marine motors. this is the biggest motor yet. any help would be greatly appreciated by the way. thank you iboats for the bday shout. thanks guys

Treat it like it had been in storage and try to follow the following thread as much as you can. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086

If you are going to run in salt water, be sure to keep the grease packed and try to flush with salt-away.

Put the BRP maintenance schedule in your paperwork so that you can stay follow it: http://www.evinrude.com/NR/rdonlyre...55-6BC1C69789FB/0/em_maintenance_schedule.pdf

I have a 150, I'm only 30 minutes from Wareham if you need a hand.
Last yr I got my engine, condition unknown but cheap, I had a mechanic walk me through everything from the fuel tank to the exhaust and everything in between, by the time I put it in the water it ran great.

Couple of other things..
Change gear oil, use new seals on screws.
pull prop and check shaft is clear of fishing line.
Make up a small onboard tool box so you can at least change sparkplugs and do emergency stuff if something crops up. Plug wrench, pliers, screwdriver kit, tape, wire , spare fuse etc.

Get the factory service book from kencook.com or ebay.

your idle speed needs to be set high on muffs, and then fine tuned in the water and in gear.
